Today I broke my duck after a couple of cancellations and tutored Anti-Racism training for the first time. Scary stuff let me tell you!
Tutoring such a subject is fraught with dangers. Unlike other subjects which are up for discussion and there is a reasonable amount of latitude, Racism is a very definite subject where the Tutor HAS to be Right and know the subject inside out. Otherwise...the tutor dies, live, in front of an audience, the night of a thousand knives.
The area I am least conversant in is Gypsies and Travellers. Halfway thru my blurb on same...a participant informs me she is a Traveller. Raises issues I'm not aware of.
Fortunately, my Co-Tutor has extensive experience and bails me out big time (that's why he was there lol) but it highlighted for me areas I need to really research properly.
I love the learning experience but this time it happened to be quite intense hehe!
